The invention relates to electrical measuring technique and can be used for determination of locations of damage of insulation in cables for energy transfer. A device for formation of pulse packs with different duration for determination of shorts in the energy transmission cable comprises an acoustic frequency generator with first and second output sockets, a splitter comprising a former of two pulse packages with different durations, the first optoelectronic couple and the first symistor and the second optoelectronic couple and second symistor, and the third and fourth output sockets. The former of two pulse packages with different durations includes a pulse generator and a decoder. The output of the pulse generator is connected to the input of the counter outputs of which are connected to decoder one output of which through the first optoelectronic couple is connected to the control electrode of the first symistor the second anode of which is connected to the second output socket, to that one the second anode of the second symistor is connected as well, its control electrode is connected to the output of the second optoelectronic couple output of which is connected to the second output of decoder, the first anode of the first symistor is connected to the fourth output socket, and the first anode of the second symistor is connected to the third output socket. The formation of current pulse packages with different durations for determination of shorts in cable for energy transmission makes it possible to provide transmission of two pulse packages separately by two separate cable conductors, one of those in the place of damage is grounded, and this makes it possible to determine location of damage by means of inductance receiver, introduction of two symistors controlled by optoelectronic couples forms contact-less switch of tone signals, this increases operational characteristics and efficiency of operation of the device.
