The present invention relates to a method for treating acutely or chronicallyinjured soft tissue in an animal or human, the method comprising administeringa therapeutically effective amount of HA around the injured soft tissue. Themethod is useful for the treatment of sprain, strain and shin splints in ananimal or human by periarticular administration of a composition comprising HAand a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The present invention can be usedto potentiate the concomitant treatment of sprain or strain with othertherapies.
