PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating acutely or chronically injured soft tissue in an animal or human, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of HA around the injured soft tissue.SOLUTION: The method is useful for the treatment of sprain, strain and shin splints in an animal or human by periarticular administration of a composition comprising HA and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The present invention can be used to potentiate the concomitant treatment of sprain or strain with other therapies.
