A jig for supporting an M1911 pistols includes a superstructure rigidlymounted onto a base soas to extend upwardly therefrom. The superstructure may be positionedsubstantially mediallyalong the length of the base. A first detent is formed in the base, adjacentthe superstructureand positioned substantially medially across the width. The first detent isshaped to acceptcradled snugly therein a lowermost portion of a pistol grip of the M1911pistol. A seconddetent is formed in the base, substantially underneath the superstructure, andis shaped tosnugly accept cradled therein a hammer portion of the M1911 pistol. Anuppermost end of thesuperstructure has a barrel receiving yoke shaped to receive cradled snuglytherein the barrelof the M1911 pistol. The second detent in the base is directly underneath theyoke so as tomaintain the barrel of the M1911 pistol pointing vertically upwards.
