The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an elevator balance compensation chain, the radius of curvature of which is adjusted, wherein the method involves manufacturing elevator balance compensation chains, the radii of curvature of which are adjusted in accordance with a variety of elevator hoistways while improving the functions of the elevator balance compensation chains as compared to existing elevator balance compensation chains. The method for manufacturing an elevator balance compensation chain according to the present invention is configured such that a plurality of bobbins revolves around a link-type chain which moves in an upward direction to supply threads to the chain and form a sheath for the chain by means of knitting. The bobbins are divided into a group which moves in the forward direction and the other group which moves in the reverse direction. The two groups move in a zigzag manner to perform a knitting operation. The chain has a width of 20 to 50 mm, and moves at a speed of 0.50 to 0.90 m/min in the vertical direction. The bobbins revolve 10 to 16 times per minute around the chain. The knitting density is adjusted by varying the revolving speed of the bobbins in accordance with the speed of the movement of the chain. Thus, an elevator balance compensation chain having a radius of curvature of 70 mm to 350 mm can be manufactured.
