Disclosed are lipid compositions and structured lipids containing phospholipids, oral formulations of the same, methods of making the same, and methods of treating various aliments and diseases with the oral formulations. The lipid compositions and structured lipids comprise omega-3 fatty acids, which are present as fatty acids on the R¹ and R² terminal positions of phospholipids. The lipids and methods disclosed herein allow for high purity phospholipid compositions, which aid in the bioavailability of the omega-3 fatty acids. The oral formulations can also contain additional components that further aid in the bioavailability and absorption by the body.
