The present invention refers to a compound inhibiting TP53INP1 activity for use in treatment of prostate cancer, a method for in vitro diagnosing a prostate cancer comprising the step of determining the level of expression of β transcript of TP53INP1 gene in a patient-derived biological sample comprising a prostate cell, and to a method of screening for compounds modulating the TP53INP1 activity.
