The clutch (1) has a drive wheel (4) rotatably mounted relative to a water pump, and an armature disk interacting with a coil (15). The disk and a functional component of an eddy current clutch are connected to the wheel. Another functional component (6) of the eddy current clutch is firmly arranged on a shaft (3) coupled to the pump. A friction mechanism is provided between the components, where a frictional locking engagement is formed between the components by the mechanism based on a distance between the components by axially displacing the former component.
