The ethanol is 70-90% ethanol. A functional food with an activity of reducing blood pressure contains Polygonum multiflorum ethanol extract as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for reducing blood pressure contains 0.02-50 wt% of the Polygonum multiflorum extract.
