PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing isoeugenol or derivative thereof is provided to prevent or treat sepsis.;CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating sepsis or septic shock contains isoeugenol or derivative thereof as an active ingredient. The isoeugenol or derivative thereof is denoted by chemical formula 1. The compound of chemical formula 1 is isoeugenol, methyl isoeugenol, eugenol, or methyl eugenol.
