The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating sepsis or septic shock, comprising N-(cyanomethyl)-4-[2-[[4-(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]amino]4-pyrimidinyl]-benzamide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient, and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating bacteremia or endotoxemia. It is confirmed that N-(cyanomethyl)-4-[2-[[4-(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]amino]4-pyrimidinyl]-benzamide (CYT387) is used for treating myelofibrosis and some cancers, prevents lipopolysaccharide-induced maturation, and inhibits activation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced signaling pathway, thereby reducing expression of proinflammatory cytokines. Thus, the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention is expected to be variously used for treating sepsis, bacteremia and endotoxemia infection and for developing pharmaceutical.
