PURPOSE: A charging apparatus and method of a nickel-hydrogen rechargeable battery using a sun light battery are provided to increase utilization ratio of voltage by minimizing charging efficiency and residual voltage when discharging the nickel-hydrogen rechargeable battery. CONSTITUTION: A nickel-hydrogen rechargeable battery(10) charges a power source which is transformed from sunlight. A sunlight battery(20) changes the sunlight into a current and outputs to the nickel-hydrogen rechargeable battery. A switching means(30) changes a micro-current outputted in the sun light battery into voltage. A charging IC(50) controls the switching means by using a pulse operating signal. A microcontroller(40) amplifies the micro-current by controlling the switching means.
