PURPOSE: A method for early detecting a quench of a high temperature superconductor coil using a Rogowski coil is provided to a high temperature superconductor coil from being damaged or deteriorated by early detecting the quench of a high temperature superconductor coil. CONSTITUTION: A Rogoski coil is contactlessly inserted into an outer circumference of a power line which electrically connects a power source and a high temperature superconductor coil. Terminals of voltage wireS on both ends of a high temperature superconductor coil are serially connected to the terminal of the Rogoski coil. A proportional constant is changed based on the winding number of the Rogoski coil and only a resistivity voltage of the high temperature superconductor coil is detected. Sudden change in the resistivity voltage during a specific period is determined to be caused by a locally generated quench in the high temperature superconductor coil.
