PURPOSE: A premature quench detecting method of a high temperature superconductive magnet is provided to wind a high temperature superconductive coil and a metal tape by non-inductive winding, offset inductive voltage and make only detected resistive voltages, thereby detecting the quench of a high temperature superconductive coil at an early stage. CONSTITUTION: After doing core winding by inserting an insulating tape between a high temperature superconductive coil and a metal tape, the (-) terminal of the high temperature superconductive coil and the (-) terminal of the metal tape are electrically disconnected; the high temperature superconductive coil and the metal type are wound by non-inductive winding by adhering a voltage signal line to the (+) terminal of the high temperature superconductive coil and the (+) terminal of the metal tape; only the resistive voltage is detected when quenching occurs in the high temperature superconductive coil, and the occurrence of quench in the high temperature superconductive coil is determined if the resistive voltage exceeds a predetermined allowable voltage.
