The present invention relates to an agent for increasing an amount of visible light transmitted by a light-transmissive substrate containing an organic silicon compound and an inorganic silicon compound, and a process for producing a highly light-transmissive substrate using the aforementioned agent for increasing an amount of transmitted visible light, as well as, a process for increasing an amount of visible light transmitted by a light-transmissive substrate characterized by forming a layer containing an organic silicon compound and inorganic silicon compound on the surface of a light-transmissive substrate. The aforementioned agent for increasing an amount of transmitted visible light and the aforementioned layer preferably further contain titanium oxide, and the aforementioned titanium oxide is preferably a metal-doped titanium oxide. In accordance with the present invention, a substrate having a reduced reflectivity and also having an increased transmittance, and therefore exhibiting improved optical properties, can be produced by using a simple method regardless of the material or form of the substrate.
