PURPOSE: A robot control system having a cable monitoring module and a method for monitoring a cable in the robot control system are provided to quickly and accurately detect defects of a data signal and a communication line.;CONSTITUTION: A cable monitoring module(300) comprises first and second data transceivers(310,320), first and second voltage measuring units(330,340), a defect diagnosis unit(350), and a diagnosis data transceiver(360). The first and second data transceivers transmit and receive data signals input through an encoder cable to a cable monitoring module of the next stage. The first and second voltage measuring units measure the voltage of the data signals. The defect diagnosis unit detects defects of the data signals received through the first and second data transceivers and detects defects of a communication line of the encoder cable based on the measured voltages. The diagnosis data transceiver receives diagnosis data from the defect diagnosis unit and transmits the data to a cable monitoring module of the next stage through a diagnosis cable.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
