PURPOSE: A safety control device and a camera mounting failure determination method thereof are provided to determine a failure in mounting a camera by detecting the horizontality of the camera using acceleration detecting units.;CONSTITUTION: A safety control device comprises a camera(11), an image processing unit(12) processing images obtained by the camera, longitudinal and transverse acceleration detecting units(13) detecting the horizontality of the camera, a control unit(14) performing control of a vehicle based on the image processing results from the image processing unit, and an interface unit(15) receiving longitudinal and transverse acceleration for detecting the horizontality of the vehicle body.
