PURPOSE: A sagger for manufacturing secondary battery active material which contains silicon carbide and a composition for the sagger are provided to enhance lifetime of the sagger by lowering reactivity using the low coefficient of thermal expansion and porosity. CONSTITUTION: A sagger for manufacturing secondary battery active material contains SiC, and has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 0.60% or less and a sintering porosity of 25% or less. A composition for manufacturing secondary battery active material contains SiC. A composition for manufacturing secondary battery active material is composed of 60-95 wt% and 5-40 wt% of SiC or 65-95% of spinel and 5-35% of SiC, or 70-95% of mullite and 5-30% of SiC. A part of the composition for the sagger is substituted with one or more of 0-15% of talcum, 0-10% of magnesia, and 0-15% of chamotte. The composition for the sagger is composed of 25-70 weight% of Al2O3, 5-50 weight% of SiO2, 5-25 weight% of MgO, and 5-40 weight% of SiC or 50-70 weight% of Al2O3, 15-25 weight% of SiO2, 5-30 weight% of SiC, or 50-70 weight% of Al2O3, 15-25 weight% of MgO, and 5-35 weight% of SiC.
