PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for imaging an underground structure are provided to reduce a calculation amount in a wave equation solution by removing the influence of an artificial boundary.;CONSTITUTION: An underground structure imaging unit(500) images an underground structure from a modeling parameter calculated by a wave inverse calculating unit(300). The wave inverse calculating unit includes a modeling data calculating unit(330), a residual function calculating unit, and a modeling parameter calculating unit(310). The modeling data calculating unit obtains modeling data by solving a wave equation using a source wavelet. The residual function calculating unit obtains a residual between the measurement data and the modeling data of the modeling data calculating unit. If the residual function is a reference value or more, the modeling parameter calculating unit updates the modeling parameter of the current wave equation to minimize the residual function.
