PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition or extract of galla rhois containing a compound separated from the same with novel swone-origin influenza, avian influenza, general and influenza cold, and SARS virus suppressing effects are provided to show excellent anti-virus effects on the novel swone-origin influenza, avian influenza, and corona virus. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating novel swone-origin influenza, avian influenza, general and influenza cold, and SARS virus contains Galla Rhois extract or a compound separated from the same as the active ingredient. The Galla Rhois extract is extracted with water, low level alcohol having 1-4 carbons or a mixed solvent thereof. The compound separated from the extract of Galla Rhois gallic acid, a mixture of methyl p-digallic acid and methyl m-digallic acid, penta-O-galloyl glucose, or ethyl gallate, a mixture of ethyl p-digallate and ethyl m-digallate.
