The present invention relates to a method for performing an asynchronous command in a remote meter-reading system. The method for performing an asynchronous command in a remote meter-reading system comprises the following steps: receiving a request for a command signal from a meter-reading server; receiving an active notification signal from a ZigBee node; delivering command signals to the ZigBee node in accordance with the order of the priority of command signals; and receiving, from the ZigBee node, the result of the performance of the command performed in accordance with the command signals, and delivering the received result to the meter-reading server. As described above, according to the present invention, commands received from the meter-reading server are asynchronously processed in the case of a ZigBee network which enables ZigBee communication only during a specific time, to thereby reduce power consumption and perform commands in an effective manner. In addition, according to the present invention, the result of the performance of transactions is divided into data and codes, and the ZigBee node can transmit only codes of the result if needed, to thereby minimize the use of communication resources.
