A negative electrode material for a lithium secondary battery is provided to prevent exfoliation or separation of an active material layer from a current collector in charging/discharging, and to suppress the degradation of the capacity retention rate accompanied with the rechargeable cycle. An electrode material containing polyacrylonitrile binder having the high degree of polymerization is a negative electrode material containing an active material and binder. The binder comprises polyacrylonitrile having the high degree of polymerization with the polymerization of 1000~100000.
