PURPOSE: A water hammer preventing system for recognizing water hammer and saving energy and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the unnecessarily repeated on and off operations of an air compressor and an exhaust valve by controlling the air compressor and the exhaust valve according to a normal mode and a safety mode.;CONSTITUTION: A water hammer preventing system comprises a control part(10), a pressure sensor part(20), and a level sensor part(30). In order to control the capacity of a main pipe(1) according to the change of service environment, the control part selectively turns on and off multiple pumps(8a,8b,8c,8d). When water level change and pressure change delivered from the pressure sensor part and the level sensor part are within a range of a reference value for a set time, the control part determines as a normal mode. When the water level change and the pressure change is within a range of a set value for the set time, the control part determines as a safety mode. The control part operates an exhaust valve(6) or an air compressor(7) in set conditions according to the normal mode or the safety mode. Only when escaping from the safety mode, the control part stops the operation of the exhaust valve or the compressor.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
