The method involves placing a solar panel (8) on a covering element i.e. tile (2), and threading a first free end (16) of a fastening strip (10) in a slot (20) of the solar panel, where a second end (12) of the fastening strip is fixed on a carrier structure i.e. lintel (4), of the covering element. The first free end of the fastening strip is bent above the solar panel for fixing the solar panel on surface of a building. The above steps are repeated multiple times when a user desires to install the fastening strip.
