A device for detecting the early dehn - and shrink behavior of building materials, with a container (1), in which the freshly mixed building material sample (2) is provided, which is shaped so that the building material sample (2) assumes a shape, which only with the level of their extent, but not its inner proportions change, so that in the geometric sense is self-similar, and with a measuring sensor (3), with which the filling level during setting of the building material sample (2) in certain intervals of time is measured in a contactless manner.
