A method for the spatially high-resolution imaging a with a fluorescent dye marked structure of a sample,– the fluorescent dye with excitation light to a fluorescent excited state, is excited;– with differing proportions of the fluorescent dye with a polarization optical signal which can be selected so that the excited in the fluorescent state fluorescent dye spontaneously emitted fluorescent light only from a partial quantity of the dye molecules of the fluorescent dye, were acted upon with the excitation light; and– the fluorescent dye one of a spatial orientation of each of its dye molecules on the one hand and the polarization of the optical signal is a function of the transition probability on the other hand, as a result of the optical signal,characterized in that a further optical signal (12) with a different polarization (14) than the polarization (11) of the optical signal (5) on the sample (3) is directed, is fluorescent light (9) of dye molecules (4) in the sample (3), which is a less than maximum transition probability as a result of the optical signal (5), to discriminate.
