The electrical conductor (2) for transmitting high frequency signals, comprises a wire-shaped electrical conductor, which consists of an electrically conductive material or along its entire length all around having a layer of electrically conductive material. The conductor is surrounded, on its entire length, by an additional electroplated copper layer (3). The thickness of the copper layer is 2 mu m-10 microns. An independent claim is included for a method for producing a conductor.
