The engine (10) has two cylinder banks (11, 12) comprising high pressure cylinders working with fuel supply in a four-stroke process and low pressure cylinders working without fuel supply in a two-stroke process. Lifting cylinders are coupled with stroke spigots of a crankshaft (13). Bypass units and the high and low pressure cylinders are arranged such that a ratio between volume of the bypass units in cubic centimeters and product of piston displacement of the high pressure cylinders and boost pressure of the high pressure cylinders is between 0.05-0.5.
