The method involves performing compression molding for forming a substrate (51) in an impact form die by injection of plastic, and cooling the substrate. An inner hole (52) is stamped on the substrate, and a punching process is performed on the substrate for about 1.2 seconds after completion of the injection process, where the punching duration is about 0.7 seconds to 0.8 seconds, and the temperature of the impact form die is in a range of 88-92 degrees Celsius. An independent claim is also included for an optical data carrier comprising a substrate.
