Method for monitoring resistive particle sensor on shunt circuit of internal combustion engine, involves stopping time modification at shunt circuit when time modification of measurement signal falls below or above preset tolerance range
The method involves correcting a temperature dependence of measurement signals of resistive particle sensors by a temperature compensation based on a temperature dependence of electric resistance of soot particles. The measurement signal is provided depending on a loading condition of the sensors. A time modification of the temperature-compensated measurement signal is determined during repetition of a measurement cycle of the sensors. The time modification is stopped at a shunt circuit when the time modification of the measurement signal falls below or above a preset tolerance range. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring a resistive particle sensor on a shunt circuit, comprising a controlling unit.
