The method involves detecting pivoting movement of an electronic device (1) e.g. mobile telephone and multimedia playing device, using a yaw rate sensor (2). A pivot is created corresponding to the detected pivoting movement signal i.e. pivot axis signal. An interrupt request signal is generated when the pivoting movement signal exceeds a threshold value, where the value is stored in a threshold logic device (4) of the sensor. An interrupt request signal is output via signal outputs (3a, 3b) when the pivoting movement signal exceeds the threshold value twice in a preset time. An independent claim is also included for an electronic device comprising a yaw rate sensor.
