The fall protection device has a trolley (5) that is displaced on a steel girder or support frame and a belt (4) or a bar for a protection of a person (3). Another belt (2) is fixed around the steel girder or the support frame with an end in a detachable manner. The trolley has a holder for the latter belt with loop. An independent claim is also included for a method for securing a person.
