The internal combustion engine (1) has a cylinder head (2), multiple cylinders (3) and an intake system having an air distributor (4). A fuel injection valve (6) with a multi-hole injection nozzle (7) is positioned in the air distributor such that a fuel jet (8) emerges from the multi-hole injection nozzle. The fuel jet is inserted in an inlet channel (5). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a spark-ignited internal combustion engine.
