The axle (1) has a torsion-soft cross beam (4) firmly connected with trailing arms (2, 3), and extending between the trailing arms. A composite steering wheel body formed from the trailing arms and the cross beam is pivotably mounted on a vehicle body (12) about a pivot axis (11) by a bearing arrangement (49). Two dampers (17, 18) are connected with the vehicle and composite steering wheel bodies, respectively. The dampers are formed as rotation dampers, and integrated into the bearing arrangement. The dampers comprise a damper housing having a workspace that is filled with hydraulic liquid.
