The vehicle (1) is provided with a warning device (2) and a control unit (5), where the warning device outputs a warning signal in the surroundings of the vehicle located object (O). The control unit is coupled to a detecting element (4) for detecting the ambient. The intensity of the warning signal is controlled in dependence of a distance (A) of the object to vehicle detected in a detection area (e) of the detecting element. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a warning device.
