The appliance (1) has a control device (7) for executing an operating program or an operating program section. The control device is established to determine an endangerment degree of a drive shaft (4) and a rotary bearing (5) based on variable data i.e. measurement values, of an imbalance sensor (8), a caustic solution temperature sensor (9) and a real-time clock (10) of the appliance. The control device is established to determine the endangerment degree of the shaft and the bearing based on time series from measurement data and internal expiration parameters. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a household appliance.
