The method involves generating data with respect to a household appliance (10) at a mobile apparatus (20) i.e. mobile telephone. Interfaces for short range communication (22, 24) are provided by the household appliance and the apparatus such that mobile equipment-side short range communication interface and the household appliance-side short range communication interface are in a mutual detection area when the apparatus is proximity to the household appliance. The data regarding the household appliance is transmitted to the household appliance by the apparatus based upon the received data.
