The device (1) has a single heat exchanger (4) i.e. plate heat exchanger, that cools air stream (2) and/or a cooling medium for cooling a component (3) of a motor car. The heat exchanger supplies and discharges a coolant and the cooling medium, where the coolant and/or the cooling medium are liquid or gas. Air guide elements are arranged in a region of openings (12) for cooling the air stream. Plates (11, 11') are alternatively arranged such that the coolant and/or the cooling medium are respectively flowed through the plates.
