The photovoltaic module (1) has photovoltaic cell (11) for converting light into electric energy, and glass substrate (12) for covering the photovoltaic cell. The photovoltaic cell and substrate are arranged on each other so that the light which is to be converted into electrical energy flows through the glass substrate onto a photo-electrically active surface (111) of the photovoltaic cell. A thermal energy curable and transparent light-shielding layer (13) with a protective layer material is formed on glass substrate surface (121) of substrate remote from the photovoltaic cell. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method of manufacturing photovoltaic module; and (2) method for healing mechanical flaw of protective layer of photovoltaic module.
