The method involves forming holes on an edge of an inner mold part (2), and assigning marks to the holes, where the holes are spaced apart from each other. A tool head (10) provided with a sensor (6) and a rivet punch (11) are moved on an edge of an outer mold part (1) after applying an adhesive along the edges of the inner and outer parts and crimping of the edge of the outer part around the edge of the inner part. Positions of the marks are determined by the sensor, and material from the crimped edge of the outer part is pressed into the holes in the edge of inner part by the punch. The sensor is designed as a camera. An independent claim is also included for a device for connecting inner and outer mold parts to a component of a body in a vehicle.
