The safety element (1) has a safety release unit automatically disconnecting electrical connection of a power wiring of a photovoltaic system during an accident i.e. fire. An external dielectric connector housing (30a) secured at an end (14a) of a three-part safety housing (12) of the release unit accommodates a contact element (46a) i.e. metal plug contact element, to form an electric connector (50a) i.e. plug connector. The connector protrudes from the end of the safety housing, so that the safety element is directly connectable with a mating electrical connector by the connector. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a safety element for a photovoltaic system (2) a photovoltaic system.
