The method involves aligning a main drive shaft (1) to a middle part (28) of a rim hub (51), where the main drive shaft is rotatably supported in a base housing (6). A circulating brush unit (40) i.e. circulating belt brush, is pressed against a wheel rim (24) such that the brush unit executes a circulation movement from the wheel rim in a circulation direction (d). The brush unit is rotated by a rotation motion (b) and the circulation movement such that a surface of a rim and spoke interstices are cleaned due to contact pressure with bristles (42) of the brush unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning a rim of a wheel of a motor car in a roll-over vehicle washing system.
