The system has a controller producing an adaptive alert that is adapted to a passing vehicle. The adaptive alert sounds only when passing the vehicle. Input parameter of the controller serves as noise of the passing vehicle and an output parameter serves as the alert. The vehicle noise is recorded in a microphone and arranged at a distance from a sound source. A periodic signal is produced during analog control of a reproducing apparatus for producing the alert. The input parameter is estimated in time and/or frequency range.
