The method involves evaluating a model of an internal combustion engine by the explicit Euler process with a fixed step size, where the model serves for controlling and regulating the internal combustion engine. The explicit Euler process is stabilized with the help of an additional, operating- point dependant term for the required fixed step size by the displacement of the Eigen values of the system matrix.
