The method involves determining (S5) geographical regions e.g. city regions, based on locations. An output node point and a target node point are determined (S9) from groups of node points based on the regions, respectively. A sub route from the output node point to the target node point, another sub route from one of the locations to the output node point, and a third sub route from the target node point to the other location are determined (S11) by digital card data, which is preset for quantities of road hierarchy planes e.g. main roads.
