The method involves energizing a main three-phase winding (5) of a stator by applying a torque to rotor (2) of three-phase machine so that starting current from the rotor to a supply network (8) is turned ON. An additional three-phase winding (6) is arranged in the stator and energized by applying torque to the rotor so that starting current from the rotor to supply network is turned ON. The main and additional three-phase windings are maintained in connected state to the supply network during operation of the three-phase machine. An independent claim is included for three-phase machine.
