The method involves supplying input parameters of a converter unit (2), where one of these input parameters is a commutating angle of a three-phase machine (4) to be operated. The input parameters are transformed into output parameters in the converter unit and the output variables of a three-phase machine are fed to operate them. The angular speed of the commutating angle is monitored and another transformation of the input parameters are implemented in the output parameters for verifying the transformation in the converter unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring the number of revolutions of three-phase machine.
