Hair treatment composition comprises: (a) at least one dicarbonylamino compound (I); and (b) at least one optionally saturated, linear or branched 2-12C-monocarboxylic acid, 2-12C-dicarboxylic acid and/or 2-12C-alpha -hydroxycarboxylic acid. Hair treatment composition comprises: (a) at least one dicarbonylamino compound of formula (R1-C(=O)-NH-C(R2)(R3)-C(R4)(R5)-C(R6)(R7)-O-C(=O)-R8) (I); and (b) at least one optionally saturated, linear or branched 2-12C-monocarboxylic acid, 2-12C-dicarboxylic acid and/or 2-12C-alpha -hydroxycarboxylic acid. R1, R8 : optionally saturated, optionally branched 7-29C-alkyl; and R2, R7 : H, optionally branched 1-4C-alkyl or hydroxyl. Provided that at least one and at most three R2-R7 are hydroxyl groups.
