The device has a transmission rod (4) engaged to a backrest of a seat and a frame of the backrest and provided for carrying out adjustment of inclination of the backrest. A handwheel (1) is attached to an end of the rod, where the handwheel and the rod are connected with one another by an axial safety device (7). The safety device is engaged into an inner side of the rod, where length and/or depth of the safety device corresponds to depth of the handwheel. The safety device has an outwardly aligned holding element (8) that lies partially on a contact surface of the handwheel.
