The backrest (21) has a rear side comprising a cavity whose upper edge is defined by a position of an upper transverse rod (15), where a screen is stretched on a bottom part of the cavity. A cover encloses a padding (9) that covers a rigid frame (25) of the backrest. An edge of the screen and an edge of the cover are fixed to the upper edge of the cavity. A height adjusting unit comprises a multi-position support (23) attached to the frame for adjusting the height of the rod by positioning the rod on the support according to different height positions. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a backrest.
